Joseph A. Baratta
Associate
Joe has been licensed to practice law since 1995, when he graduated from the John Marshall Law School with honors. He has a business background from his undergraduate studies at DePaul University.
For the last 17 years, he has concentrated exclusively on representing insurance companies and their insureds in fraud investigations, subrogation, and bodily injury claims arising from transportation, construction, and premises liability. He has successfully taken over two dozen jury and non-jury trials to verdict, on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants, with impressive results. He has taken hundreds of cases to arbitration and mediation with equally successful outcomes. He has handled over 1,000 depositions, including those of experts in the fields of medicine, fire causation/origin, construction liability, crash reconstruction and economics.
Joe began his legal career representing plaintiffs in catastrophic personal injury cases resulting from product defects. He also served as general counsel for a not-for-profit organization specializing in expediting transactions between Chicago business and overseas corporations.
